Scope 1 — Direct Emissions (fuel combustion)

All fuel combusted in equipment your organization owns or controls — company vehicles, generators, boilers and furnaces — plus process and fugitive emissions. Biomass combustion is reported separately as Scope 1 (biogenic).

Scope 2 — Indirect Emissions (purchased energy)

Purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling. Both methods are calculated: location-based uses your regional grid factor, market-based applies contractual instruments such as RECs and PPAs at 0 kg CO₂e/kWh. On-site generation consumed on-site is excluded and reported separately.
