Most calculators hand you a number. GHGTRACKER hands you the working: the quantity it read, the factor it chose, where that factor comes from, the arithmetic and the scope classification with its reason. If a unit doesn't match or a factor is missing, it says so in plain English instead of estimating.
That trail travels with the inventory — into the PDF, the Excel workbook, the read-only share link and the BRSR pack — so a reviewer can reproduce every tonne without asking you a single question.

The mistakes it won't let you make
- On-site generation consumed on site stays out of Scope 2 — its fuel already sits in Scope 1, so it is reported as a separate memo item.
- Market-based Scope 2 needs REC or PPA evidence before it counts as zero.
- Biomass is disclosed as biogenic CO₂, never blended into the fossil total.
- Ambiguous activities are classified with a stated reason, and you can override it.
Intensity & targets
A total is a number. Intensity is a verdict.
GHGTRACKER divides your emissions by employees, built-up area and revenue in ₹ crore, compares the result with indicative Indian benchmark ranges, and repeats the whole exercise per site using that site's own denominators — so a plant is never judged by a head-office yardstick.

Benchmarks are indicative Indian ranges — 2–6 t per employee, 40–100 kg per m², 10–50 t per ₹ crore — not compliance thresholds. A site with no denominators is simply left unscored.
